The Influence of Music on Teenagers: MYP Personal Project 2016-2017 I love music. I can’t recall a day I’ve spent without it. Since childhood music has been my best friend. While I was growing up, when I was happy and sad, when I felt excited or completely lost, music has always been there for me, and it still is. It helps me concentrate and think or just shut the rest of the world down. I am practically always surrounded by its sounds. Even now, while typing this, I am listening to music. If I can’t listen, I will play it. If I can’t play, I will sing. There is no chance I am being left on my own, without music. It is like oxygen that keeps me alive.
I can talk about my passion for music without stopping… But that’s not the point I started writing this, right? Right. So one day I just thought that I’m certainly not the only one kind of addicted to music. There are thousands of people all over the world that feel the same way as me. And a good part of them are teenagers. Interest towards music is extremely high among teenagers, I experienced that on my own skin. And I find this fact really fascinating! Teenage period is like a rollercoaster. Time of mood swings, misunderstandings, time of first times, life lessons, crazy dreams and ideas... Sometimes we just don’t know what to do with ourselves, and music kind of keeps us together, doesn’t let our brains explode not literally of course, but it feels much like this, believe me. So I thought making a project about music and teenagers might be really interesting.
So what’s music for teenagers? A friend? Savior? Source of inspiration? Maybe all of these, added to a never ending list they write in their mind while listening to some song that means a whole world to them…
