Contract killer
Lalo Schifrin - The Killer 1970 Music clips culled from the season 5 episode "The Killer" of "Mission: Impossible" in which hitman Eddie Lorca actor Robert Conrad arrives at the exit of the Los Angeles airport under the surveillance of IMF agent Willy Armitage actor Peter Lupus posing as a cabbie. Lorca spots the hotel of the contract, moves to the back alley and climbs up the fire escape ladder to reach his room like a sneaky cat. In his Knickerbocker hotel room, Lorca prepares the time bomb made out of golf balls that will erase his target. After the explosion, Lorca phones his contact named Flo—actually, IMF agent Dana Lambert actress Lesley Ann Warren—to get his payment and meets her in a back alley when a gangster limousine runs fast and shoots down the contact by mistake. Out of his wits, Lorca calls a cab to meet his superior named Scorpio to gun him down for treason.
Composer Lalo Schifrin fashions all the musical devices for this particular episode that will be expanded in his magnum opus "Dirty Harry" 1971: see the dissonant organ technique, the low-key abstract jazz with esoteric cymbals and moody double bass and subdued flute, the obsessive fast-paced funky drumbeat, the psyche-rock color with electric guitar riffs, the rough and dry musique concrète arrangements with echo. In short, Schifrin combines jazz with avant garde. This weird experimental musical leaning foreshadows the hippie killer character of Scorpio from "Dirty Harry" 1971. - Ivan Shilov Contract killer
